By the end of CCD, new to experienced instructors in all disciplines have the opportunity for education, collaboration, and feedback to develop the best course possible. The course includes practical evidence-based resources, examples, and activities in: determining Course Objectives, writing student learning outcomes, deciding on forms of assessment, selecting course content, and choosing instructional strategies for your course.<\/p>\n<h2>Course Outline<\/h2>\n<h3>Module 0: Introduction<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Objective 1: <\/strong>Identify the purpose(s) of the course design resource<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 2: <\/strong>Outline the course design resource components<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 3: <\/strong>Identify additional teaching and learning supports available at CTL<\/p>\n<h3>Module 1: Alignment<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Objective 1:\u00a0 <\/strong>Explain the role of organizing frameworks in the course design process<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 2:\u00a0 <\/strong>Create an organizing framework for a course based on an integrated topic hierarchy\/knowledge, skill, and attitude approach (course design plan template)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 3: <\/strong>Create an outline for your course including the university required elements<\/p>\n<h3>Module 2: Writing Course Objectives<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Objective 1: <\/strong>Explain the role of organizing frameworks in the course design process<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 2: <\/strong>describe the characteristics of well written course objectives<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 3: <\/strong>write course objectives that identify major course themes and KSAs<\/p>\n<h3>Module 3: Writing Student Learning Outcomes<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Objective 1: <\/strong>explain the relationship between course objectives, learning outcomes, and alignment<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 2: <\/strong>describe the characteristics of well written learning outcomes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 3: <\/strong>write observable\/measurable\/specific learning outcomes for each module<\/p>\n<h3>Module 4: Deciding on Assessment Methods<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Objective 1:<\/strong> identify the UofA guiding principles of assessment and their relationship to assessment planning<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 2:<\/strong> Describe methods of assessment instruments and their purpose(s)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 3:<\/strong> Explain the relationship between assessment, student learning outcomes and instructional activity<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 4:<\/strong> Differentiate between formative and summative assessment<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 5:<\/strong> Outline\u00a0 the assessment plan for their course<\/p>\n<h3>Module 5: Selecting Readings and other Course Content<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Objective 1:<\/strong> Determine the priorities in your course content<br \/>\n<strong>Objective 2:<\/strong> Select content resources that support students\u2019 learning of the course content<br \/>\n<strong>Objective 3:<\/strong> Share course content in adherence to copyright<br \/>\n<strong>Objective 4:<\/strong> Recognize students\u2019 common concerns about course content<\/p>\n<h3>Module 6: Instructional Strategies<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Objective 1: <\/strong>explain the relationship between learning outcomes and instructional strategies<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 2: <\/strong>evaluate instructional strategies for use in your course<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective 3: <\/strong>identify at least three types of instructional strategies to use in your course<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Concepts in Course Design (CCD) is a self-paced course for instructors who want to design a new course, redesign, or update an existing course.
