Teaching others improves residents&#8217; understanding of medicine because it forces them to rethink their knowledge and skills in a particular area. Clerks and medical students like having residents as teachers because their experiences are fresh. At some point in their first year, residents are expected to take <b><i>TIPS for Residents<\/i><\/b> which is a formal two day introduction to teaching course.
