{"id":87,"date":"2016-04-13T20:09:58","date_gmt":"2016-04-13T20:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jrdingwall.ca\/portfolio\/?p=87"},"modified":"2018-11-26T22:06:53","modified_gmt":"2018-11-26T22:06:53","slug":"blended-learning-series-workshops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jrdingwall.ca\/portfolio\/2016\/04\/13\/blended-learning-series-workshops\/","title":{"rendered":"Blended Learning Series &#8211; Workshops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>Blended Learning Series<\/em> of workshops was comprised of three live workshop sessions delivered in conjunction with independent activities guided by the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/jrdingwall.ca\/portfolio\/2016\/03\/13\/blended-learning-handbook\/\">Blended Learning Handbook<\/a>. <\/em>The three sessions were:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blended Learning Series &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/blendedlearning.pressbooks.com\/chapter\/blended-learning-series-what-will-my-blend-be\/\">What Will My Blend Be?<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is a lot of buzz around using blended learning to engage students and enhance learning. However, getting started with blended learning is not always a straightforward or self explanatory process. In this blended learning workshop, the first in the series, we will take the first steps in designing a blended course and explore:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What blended learning is, and its general benefits<\/li>\n<li>What blended learning can look like in different courses<\/li>\n<li>How blended learning strategies could be implemented in your course!<\/li>\n<li>Tools to get started with your blended learning course design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Blended Learning Series &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/blendedlearning.pressbooks.com\/chapter\/blended-learning-series-blended-interactions\/\">Blended Interactions<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this blended learning workshop, the second in the series, we will build on our Mix Map and take a few more steps in designing a blended course and explore:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What kinds of interactions might we use face-to-face vs. online?<\/li>\n<li>What opportunities are there to use different instructional strategies than before?<\/li>\n<li>What affordances and limitations exist for different interactions in both the face-to-face modality and online?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Blended Learning Series &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/blendedlearning.pressbooks.com\/chapter\/blended-learning-series-mixing-assessments\/\">Mixing Assessments<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this blended learning workshop, the third in the series, we will consider a number of common blended learning assessment strategies and explore:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Which assessment methods are appropriate for the learning outcomes in the course?<\/li>\n<li>What are the trade offs between online and face-to-face assessments?<\/li>\n<li>How might you implement formal and informal assessments in your blended course?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"_3bJ2H CHExY\">\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"_1l8RX _1ByhS\">Photo by <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/photos\/UCZF1sXcejo?utm_source=unsplash&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_content=creditCopyText\">\u0160tefan \u0160tefan\u010d\u00edk<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/search\/photos\/workshop?utm_source=unsplash&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_content=creditCopyText\">Unsplash<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Blended Learning Series of workshops was comprised of three live workshop sessions delivered in conjunction with independent activities guided by the Blended Learning Handbook.
