I was asked to give a brief presentation to a group of undergraduate education students in an educational technology class a quick introduction to instructional design. There are all kinds of ways one could have tackled this, and I would make adjustments if I was asked to do it again based on student interest, class, instructor, etc. The general overview approach I took was, what’s a quick historical overview of the field, how could it be defined and what does that mean in terms of day to day work, how I got here, a few career path options, and further resources.
