THE FUTURE IS OFFLINE

This post from maique h/t Doug Belshaw, struck a chord,

Auto-generated description: A red sticker on a gray surface reads THE FUTURE IS OFFLINE.

Over the past ten years I’ve used and retreated from various online platforms. Starting with Facebook following the Cambridge Analytica scandals, Twitter after the takeover, etc. Some of their replacements, Bluesky, Mastodon, etc. just didn’t stick for me. The most recent abandoned space for me is where many people seem to have landed, Linkedin. For the most part, I’ve moved almost entirely to messaging apps, my RSS reader, and the blogwall for my online activity. The rest I’m trying to focus a lot on spending more time in the dojo, and with folks face-to-face (I’m going to count phone calls and video calls in that category as well. )

What I find compelling here is both the dystopic reading of this sticker, and the hopeful one.
