Objects of Desire: Design, Designers, and the Literature of Design
Reading this chapter, the following quote gave me pause related to all instructional design projects I’ve ever been involved in. The paradox of the designer:
…on the one hand, design is determined by ideas and material conditions over which designers hand no control, yet, on the other hand, designs are the result of designers exercising their creative autonomy and originality.Forty, A. (1986, p. 242)
